Deep Dive into Summer Practice!

Join the OKState String Faculty and special guests in a 4-day, 4-night intensive workshop designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of your practice. Participants receive practiclasses intended to help foster and develop individual practice techniques as well as dedicated practice time and spaces in the state-of-the-art Greenwood School of Music Building. Additionally, participants receive lessons with teaching artists and opportunities to perform in the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts Recital Hall both as a soloist and as part of the Intensive String Ensemble.

Who Can Participate?
Participation is open to rising 9th graders through age 25. Our instrument offerings include violin, viola, cello, and bass.
Audition Requirements:
Applicants should prepare a 10-minute audition video featuring 2 contrasting works or partial works of their choosing. Videos should be uploaded to YouTube. Please check that your link is "unlisted" which allows those with the link to view the videos, but they are not searchable.
Admissions:
The OkState Strings Intensive accepts students on a rolling admissions basis. Applications are reviewed in the order that the are received with limited space per instrument. We strongly recommend that students apply by April 20th, 2024. Admissions close on May 1st, 2024.
**Tuition will be collected upon acceptance into the program.
Final Concert:
Students will perform a final concert at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5th in the McKnight Center for the Performing Arts. This will feature solo performances, chamber music, and a side by side conductor-less string ensemble! Families should plan to attend!

Arrival:
Campers should arrive for a 4 p.m. check-in on June 1st and should plan to leave with their families on June 5th after the concert which begins at 2 p.m.
Housing:
For our non-commuting participants, students will be housed in the Oklahoma State University dorms. All underage campers will have a counselor assigned to them with a 1:10 camper/counselor ratio.
Tuition:
Tuition for this workshop is $500 and includes meals. Room and Board is available to all campers at an additional cost of $200. Any minors that opt to stay on campus will be supervised by camp counselors who have been background checked and taken working with minors training.
